Copy of a licence issued by His Majesty's Government in Great Britain to the Kerguelen Sealing and Whaling Company in 1926 in respect to the portion of the Antarctic continent which lies between long. 45ºE and long. 90ºE and adjacent islands and territorial waters.;Correspondence re the proposed formation of a new company to take over the whaling licence issued to the Kerguelen Sealing and Whaling Company, 1928.;A newspaper clipping dated 1929 and entitled 'Marooned on Heard Island: Cape Town sealers' narrow escape';Also contains questions directed to the Minister of the Interior by Mr. Papenfus during a House of Assembly meeting in 1929 re the slaughter of sea-elephants on Kerguelen Island as reported in the newspaper article mentioned above.
